* 엘체시의 야자수림 경관 (Palmeral of Elche)

유럽 제일의 광대한 야자원
The Palmeral of Elche, a landscape of groves of date palms, was formally laid out, with elaborate irrigation systems, at the time the Muslim city of Elche was erected, towards the end of the tenth century A.C., when much of the Iberian peninsula was Arab. The Palmeral is an oasis, a system for agrarian production in arid areas. It is also a unique example of Arab agricultural practices on the European continent. Cultivation of date palms in Elche is known at least since the Iberian times, dating around the fifth century B.C.
지중해 연안의 거리 엘체에는 유럽 제일의 광대한 야자원이 펼쳐져 있다. 아랍인 고도의 관개 시스템에 의해 만들어진 이 거대한 야자원은 엘체의 야자원이라 불린다. 500년 이상의 역사를 가지는 종교극인 엘체 신비극은 무형유산으로 인정되었다. 이 연극은 교황의 특별 허가 아래 엘체에서 15세기 이래 공연되어 오는 마리아에 대한 성스러운 뮤지컬 드라마로 발렌시아 사람들의 문화적, 언어적 정체성을 반영한다.

Cordoba''s period of greatest glory began in the 8th century after the Moorish conquest, when some 300 mosques and innumerable palaces and public buildings were built to rival the splendours of Constantinople, Damascus and Baghdad. In the 13th century, under Ferdinand III, the Saint, Cordoba''s Great Mosque was turned into a cathedral and new defensive structures, particularly the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos and the Torre Fortaleza de la Calahorra, were erected.
2000년이 넘는 역사를 간직하고 있는 코르도바는 로마인과 이슬람인들의 영향을 많이 받은 도시이다. 이 도시는 수세기에 걸쳐 흘러들어온 다양한 문화로 인해 문화적으로 풍요로울 뿐만 아니라 도시 곳곳에 그 흔적들이 남아있다. 한가운데에 기독교 성당이 들어서 있는 알자마 모스크가 역사적인 유적지의 가운데 들어서 있는 곳에서 다른 문화의 공존을 느낄 수 있다. 역사를 더듬어보면 코르도바라 최초로 개화한 것은 로마의 식민지 베디카 시대로,그 다음이 회교도 시대이다. 특히 회교도는 10C에 들어서면서 코드도바에 카이후 왕국을 세웠다. 당시 인구는 100만 가까이 달했다고도 말해져 현존하는 대 회교 사원을 비롯해 시내에는 300개나 되는 회교 사원이 있다.
