전설적인 발레 안무가 오귀스트 부르농빌의 대표작 '라 실피드'
오귀스트 부르농빌은 로맨틱 발레의 황금기를 장식했던 전설적인 안무가의 한 사람이다. 그는 1805년 덴마크 코펜하겐에서 태어났는데, 19세기 프랑스 무용계에 큰 족적을 남겼던 댄서이자 안무가인 앙트앙 부르농빌이 바로 그의 아버지였다. 그는 20대 후반인 1829년부터 안무가로서 본격적인 활동을 펼쳤는데, 1879년 사망할 때까지 50편 이상의 주옥같은 안무를 후대에 남겼다. 본 DVD에는 그의 안무를 대표하는 작품이자 현존하는 가장 오래된 로맨틱 발레의 하나로 손꼽히는 '라 실피드'가 수록되었다. TV 방송을 위해서 1961년 BBC에서 녹화한 영상으로, 당시 영국 로얄 발레의 주역 무용수들이었으며, 이후 각각 자신들의 모국인 덴마크와 오스트레일리아에서 명교사로 많은 후학들을 양성했었던 플레밍 플린트와 루세트 알도스가 제임스와 실피드를 연기하였다. 부르농빌의 마지막 안무 작품인 '겐차노의 꽃 축제' 중에서 파 드 듀도 함께 수록되었는데, 전설적인 발레리노 루돌프 누레예프와 메를 파크가 호흡을 맞춘 1974년의 기록이다.
